    The tour of the salt mines of Maras and the agricultural terraces Inca de Moray is an ideal complement for your excursions to Machu Picchu. You will appreciate snow-capped mountains, farmland and villages full of colour and tradition. Daily departures for single people and groups of all ages and by tourist bus.

     

    Itinerary

    Day 1 : Maras – Moray – Salt mines Half day

    We will start with the pick-up from your hotel between 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. approximately. We will then travel by tourist bus to the Urubamba Valley. During the journey we can see the magnificent Nevado de Chicón.

    We will pass through the town of Maras, where the houses still preserve their colonial facades and has a beautiful church. Then we will go to the Archaeological Complex of Moray, which has a system of agricultural platforms or terraces of circular shape, which served as an Inca agricultural laboratory, to experiment with new crops.

    Finally we will visit the Salineras ‘natural salt wells’, platforms that are formed by hundreds of white wells that can be seen as if it were snow at a distance. In colonial times it became the first salt producing center in the southern sierra. They were used for thousands of years and even long before the Inca Empire.

    We will be back in the city of Cusco at approximately 3:00 p.m.
