Humantay Lake is one of the many hidden gems of Peru’s highland region. The emerald waters and the hugely imposing glacier come together in flawless harmony for the truly incredible sight that you see. It truly is a hidden gem, as it is nestled between two different peaks and the only way to access it (safely) is from below. This means there are no tantalizing glances of the water to spur you on, simply the mystery of what is to come.
- Itinerary
- Distance: Approx. 3 km (1.5 hours to the lake, 1.5 hours back)
- Altitude: Start: 3400m (Cusco), Humantay Lake: 4200m
- Difficulty: Moderate (due to altitude)
- Early Morning: Salida desde Cusco alrededor de las 4:30 AM en transporte turístico hacia Soraypampa (aproximadamente 2.5 horas de viaje). Soraypampa es el punto de inicio de la caminata hacia Humantay Lake.
- Arrival at Soraypampa: Llegada a Soraypampa, donde comenzarás el recorrido hacia Humantay Lake. Es importante caminar lentamente para adaptarse a la altitud y disfrutar del paisaje.
- Start of Trek: Comienza la caminata hacia Humantay Lake (aproximadamente 1.5 horas de ascenso), disfrutando de las impresionantes vistas de las montañas, el glaciar y la naturaleza circundante.
- Humantay Lake: Llegada al lago Humantay, a 4200 metros de altitud. Disfruta de las aguas esmeralda y el glaciar que lo rodea, un sitio lleno de belleza natural. Este lugar sagrado es un tesoro oculto en las montañas andinas.
- Lunch: Almuerzo tipo picnic en el camino de regreso o en Soraypampa, según la logística del grupo.
- Return to Soraypampa: Regreso a Soraypampa, donde tomarás el transporte para volver a Cusco, llegando alrededor de las 4:30 PM.
